Quick Release Coupling
A coupling device made up of two components - a spring loaded shut off valve (often refered to as the coupling or carrier) and a probe or plug that, when inserted into the coupling opens the valve and locks into place. The coupling and plug can be released by retracting or retating the sleeve on the coupling or pressing a button on the coupling. Safety couplings allow the downsteam air to be exhausted before the coupling and plug will fully release. Used for connecting tools, hoses and other equipment to a compressed air system. Also refered to as quick coupler, air coupling and quick disconnect.
