MacDonald quick action couplings are designed for high pressure compressed air or inert gas. They are widely used in oil refineries, in chemical plants for nitrogen service and in general engineering industry.
They are also used with pneumatic tools and for fire hose reel service where safety is a prime concern.
The MacDonald quick action coupling is a bayonet style which is quick, safe and reliable and allows effortless separation without the risk of accidental disconnection.
This is a 'straight through' coupling – when separated the air on both sides is vented to atmosphere so normally the hose should be vented before disconnection.
To make the connection, push the coupling and plug together and then turn the plug through 90 degrees. The sleeve then snaps into position locking the coupling and plug together making a joint which is virtually impossible to disconnect unintentionally.
The coupling or male– half is available with a hose tail (HM), Female (inside) thread (IM) and Male (outside) thread (OM).
The plug or female half is available with a hose tail (HF), Female (inside) thread (IF and Male (outside) thread (OF).
The couplings and plugs are made from plated steel (brass or stainless steel on request to special order).
Threads are BSP as standard (API and NPT available on request and made to order).
The couplings and plugs of all sizes interchange with each other.
This is a high quality range of couplings designed for heavy duty applications and is widely used in industry all around the world. It is available here at very competitive prices.
We can also offer hose assemblies with MacDonald quick action couplings with hose type and length to suit your requirements and optional certificate of test and batch or serial number for traceability.
