InstantAir quick release couplings for compressed air applications. Manufactured in the UK by PCL. This coupling was formerly known as Broomwade – the business was acquired by PCL in 2001.
This is a bayonet type coupling which, due to its design, offers a very high degree of protection against accidental disconnection.
To connect or disconnect push the plug and coupling together and rotate through 45 degrees. In a trailing hose situation (where accidental disconnection is more of a hazard) this is a two handed operation.
There are two sizes in this range – the 1/4” & 3/8” size and the 1/2” size. The couplings and plugs from the two different sizes cannot be connected together.
Available in zinc plated steel.
This is a 'single shut off' coupling which means that when the coupling and plug are disconnected the coupling half seals and the plug half vents air to atmosphere. The coupling half must always be fitted on the up stream side of the air flow.
The plug is available in two types – fixed or swivel. The swivel plug is recommended for tools or any other situation where rotation might be required – e.g. to stop a kink forming in a hose. The swivel plug is not designed for continuous rotation.
